VANCOUVER ARCHITECT DESIGNING CONTEMPORARY WEST
COAST HOMES IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST
FWC Architecture was established in 1995 in Vancouver by Fook Weng
Chan. It is a small design studio providing personalized service
on unique custom home designs.
Several homes have been featured in Canadian and International magazines,
such as USA Home & Architectural TRENDS & Western Living,
as well as on television's Discovery Network's "Amazing Vacation
Homes", movies and exhibited in Japan.
Prior to starting his own practice, Fook Weng worked on a wide range
of projects including houses, clubhouses, a courthouse, resorts,
university buildings, transportation, exhibition and ceremonial
projects. Several were award winners. With this experience, he is
able to look at each project with a fresh eye. Consequently, each
home designed is very distinctive, speaking of its owners and the
opportunities and constraints presented by unique site conditions.
Fook Weng enjoys working collaboratively with homeowners and builders
to create worthwhile, enduring, spirit-filled projects - whether
modest or luxurious, cabins or estate homes. He operates in a low-key
manner and personally works on all projects - believing this to
be the best way to translate homeowners dreams and needs to well
considered, successful solutions.
Fook Weng Chan has recently been selected to be one of a handful
of Canadian architects featured in a coffee table book, "Expressions
of Design - Western Canada" to be released in 2010.
